Over the week CFD firefighters once again travelled to the Suffolk County Fire Academy in Yaphank for Trainings.

On Saturday, November 9th, the Suffolk County Fire Academy hosted its 2nd annual "Women in the Fire Service" event. CFD firefighters Molly Waitz, and Alexa Reeve participated in the event brought together over 65 firefighters for a day of professional development and hands-on training.

The event began with a series of informative classroom lectures, focusing on key aspects of fire service operations and leadership. In the afternoon, attendees participated in a variety of practical training exercises, designed to enhance their skills and foster camaraderie among women in the fire service. This event provided invaluable learning opportunities, promoting both personal and professional growth for all participants.

On Tuesday Night November 12th, CFD Firefighters travellled to the academy to participate in the Advanced forcilble enrty drill.

The drill focused on the skills of forcible entry used in unique or different situations. Firefighters utilized both power saws and conventional tools to practice entering or ventilating a secure home or commercial building. Firefighters also practiced in low light and tight spaces.

Many of these scenarios are designed to replicate real-life situations that firefighters have occurred throughout our nation.

12 CFD firefighters participated in the training session.

The Cutchogue Fire Department like many other fire departments in Suffolk County, routinely travels to the Fire academy several times over the course of the year in order to participate in different training evolutions.

Tuesday marked the last of different 6 times that CFD traveled to Yaphank this year for live and hands-on fire training.

The Officers and Members of the Cutchogue Fire Department would like to thank the instructors and entire academy staff and for giving us the skills and knowledge to help us protect our community.
